Well, that was a doozy. We started our Sunday out with frigid cold only to be ended with pouring rain and above freezing temperatures. In between, areas were pounded with heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

RECORDED SNOWFALL VS MY FORECAST

Areas with + symbol is a recorded number before snow was over. Overall, my forecast was accurate. Some high elevations reported 8+ inches in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland because they stayed as snow for a longer period. I will try and capture that aspect in my next forecast.

ACTUAL TIMELINE OF EVENTS IN WESTMINSTER

3:00 PM - Snow beginning - Temp - low 20's

4:00 PM - Moderate snow - Temp - mid twenties

5:30 PM - Heavy snow - Temp - mid twenties and rising

7:15 PM - Snow ends with 3 inches on the ground and sleet builds into the area - Temp - 27 and rising

8:00 PM - Freezing rain beginning - Temp - 30 and rising

9:00 PM - Pouring rain - Temp - Above freezing

12:00 AM - Rain stopped - Temp - Upper thirties

5:00 AM - Snow shower - Temp - 33 and dropping

CURRENT CONDITIONS

Temperature is 32 degrees in Westminster. Snow is compacted totaling up to an inch with a layer of icy slush at the bottom The roads not yet plowed are snow covered or should I say slush covered. It is windy and will remain gusty and cold throughout the day. I don't expect too much melting because it will also remain cloudy.
