I am back and ready to forecast a hopefully snowy winter for you guys. This winter, I will be splitting time at home and at school in Newark, Delaware. In doing so, I will forcast for the general Delmarva region, along with specifics for Westminster, Baltimore, and Newark, Delaware.
Our first chance for measurable snow comes Monday Morning following a wet and gloomy Sunday.
OVERVIEW
Rainy and Warm Sunday
Switchover from rain to wet snow overnight Sunday and into Monday Morning
Heavy snow rates could overwhelm roads and cause school delays
Snow ends by early/mid morning and possibly switches back to rain
TIMING
Carroll County - Switchover to snow between midnight and 4 am
Baltimore - Switchover to snow between 2 am and 6 am
Newark Delaware - Switchover to snow between 4 am and 8 am
SNOW AMOUNTS
Places that switchover to snow earlier will see the most snow as it will be falling in the overnight hours without the sun. Westminster should expect to see a few hours of snow fall overnight and into the morning while places like Newark, Delaware should only expect up to an hour of snow. Snow amount will range from a dusting to 2 Inches across the Delmarva region.
UNCERTAINTIES
As of now, the timing of the switchover from rain to snow is still up in the air and it is always tough to forecast. I will have a better understanding of the timing on Sunday night but even then it is tough to approximate.
There is still a possibility that the cold front responsible for snow weaekns. In that case chances of snow are significantly diminsihed.
As always I will keep you updated. A snowfall map and timing specifics will be released Sunday Afternoon/Evening.
